This week, we’ve seen optimistic reports from Portugal regarding Porto’s interest in Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos.
Even though the Brazilian midfielder is just joining the Blues this summer, it’s been said the Dragons already want him on a loan deal.
It turns out that as Portuguese newspaper Record today writes about this transfer, it’s claimed that a deal between Porto and Chelsea will be harder than first thought.
That’s because they state that Mauricio Pochettino ‘intends to observe’ Santos during the pre-season, as there’s a chance he could end up staying with the Blues’ squad.
The midfielder is now believed to have enough points for the work permit, and he just needs to convince the Chelsea manager that he deserves a place in the team.
Record explains that this situation could result in a ‘battle’ between Pochettino and Porto manager Sérgio Conceição, as they both could get interested in using Santos this season.
So Porto will now have to wait and see what the Chelsea boss decides about Andrey. With the Blues’ pre-season just getting started, that should still take a while.
