Nottingham Forest are once again at the centre of a plot twist involving Cuiabano, with Globo Esporte now reporting that Botafogo will make one last attempt to keep the left-back in Rio.

The plan agreed in September was clear: Nottingham Forest bought him, loaned him back until December, and expect him in England for 2026. It was clear to all involved.

But Cuiabano exploded in form, became a regular under Davide Ancelotti and even turned into one of the team’s top scorers… Which ended up meaning the club now want to renegotiate what was already settled.

Botafogo will speak with Forest to check the status of the English club’s left-backs. If Marinakis and his staff feel well covered in the position, the Brazilians hope to extend the loan until mid–2026. Internally, though, no one hides that the chance is small.

On Nottingham Forest’s end, things look straightforward. Brazilian reports have already suggested the Premier League club want him back next year, and the player himself said goodbye to staff and teammates, signalling he feels ready for the move.

Then again, when it comes to the Marinakis-Textor relationship, it’s hard to rule anything out completely. If Cuiabano’s “see you soon” in his farewell match sounded like a sentimental message at first, it may end up being literal.

For now, Botafogo will ask, Nottingham Forest will decide, and Cuiabano waits. Yet everything still points to a Premier League move in 2026.
