If you have been following our coverage of Weston McKennie this season, you’ll be aware that his time at Leeds United is now far behind him.
The midfielder endured what can only be described as a mediocre loan at Elland Road during the second half of last season and was unable to stop the club from going back down to the Championship.
This scuppered any chance of him staying at Leeds, and Corriere dello Sport now look at what has happened since.
The midfielder was going to be discarded by Juventus in the summer, but hard work and determination led the USA international to convince Max Allegri to keep him, with him now one of the key players in the Italian manager’s squad.
He has nine assists to his name, having played all over the pitch, and the newspaper recall how much of a contrast that is to last year, where he played at Leeds ‘without satisfaction’.
The 20-year-old made 20 appearances for the Elland Road residents, picking up one assist, but his future could be very bright.
It’s pointed out that Juventus have tried to initiate contract renewal talks, but those have ‘not yet borne fruit’, and that’s why we must ‘watch out for the Premier League’, as a few clubs are starting to queue up.
Therefore, a move back to England’s top tier is starting to look like a real possibility.
