On Tuesday, French outlet Le10Sport revealed that Chelsea are in advanced negotiations to sign Andrey Santos from Vasco.
It was claimed the Blues are ‘close’ to a deal which would see them bring the wonderkid to Stamford Bridge for just €15m.
That report obviously made some noise in the Brazilian media, and as journalist Jorge Nicola shares some updates, he brings good news for Chelsea fans.
He claims to have spoken to Andrey Santos’ staff, and was told that they ‘didn’t close, but there are advanced conversations’.
This source also told Nicola that Vasco are waiting for executive Paulo Bracks to return to Brazil to close the deal with Chelsea. His arrival should happen between Wednesday and Thursday.
Andrey Santos was expected to leave for much more, with Nicola claiming he also asked this person why he’d move for just €15m, if rumours talked about a €35m transfer.
He was told that the fact Andrey is a defensive midfielder makes him worth a lot less than attackers. The journalist then admitted he’s ‘frustrated’ to see such a talent going for so little.
