A social media post from defender Marc Barta has been taken as a clear sign that Real Betis are working to sign Tottenham defender Giovani Lo Celso this summer.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say the Argentine midfielder is among the targets for the club’s sports management and a recent post from Bartra has hinted at it happening.
The newspaper explains that Betis have dreamed of bringing Lo Celso back to the club since he left for Tottenham in 2019.
They think they can do a deal this summer as he’s in the final year of his deal at Spurs and the club have been working for some time to try and make it possible. President Ángel Haro’s insistence they weren’t a few weeks was used as a distraction tactic because of this.
There has been talk of an informal approach with the Tottenham man’s entourage and while there is a still a long way to go, there is an increasing confidence it can happen.
Barta’s recent post on social media has been seen as a clear sign of that, with the defender posting a photo alongside several other players in the Argentina set up.
That’s been seen as him publicly requesting that a deal take place this summer, with the defender a ‘heavyweight’ in the dressing room and his thoughts likely to be listened to. Indeed, his post is seen as him taking the secrecy away from the whole affair.
He clearly wants the Tottenham man to make the move and it’s claimed his post would make no sense if Betis weren’t moving behind the scenes to bring him back to the club.
