Fiorentina’s Michael Kayode had received concrete interest from Aston Villa and Brentford in the summer window.
Unai Emery’s side and the Bees both tabled bids for the right-back but were turned down by the Serie A side.
Monday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport points out Aston Villa and Brentford’s failure to sign him when covering the latest on Kayode.
It’s claimed the Villans proposed €15m in June and Thomas Frank’s side arrived with a €22m bid in August. The two offers were rejected by the Italian club and their decision hasn’t paid off quite well.
The newspaper claims the 20-year-old’s situation at the club has ‘turned upside down’ this season. He’s been limited to 25 minutes of action from three league games as manager Raffaele Palladino has favoured Dodô ahead of him.
Corriere state director Daniele Pradè was in favour of selling the defender, but Fiorentina chairman Rocco Commisso wasn’t interested. They add the Italy U21 international will think about leaving in January, if there’s an interesting offer.
This means Aston Villa and Brentford could be presented with another opportunity to sign the player.
Last month, Fiorentina News reported the Premier League duo are still in the picture to secure Kayode’s services. Whether they’ll return with another offer in the winter market remains to be seen.
