RB Leipzig will evaluate Fabio Carvalho’s loan deal from Liverpool in January, despite insistence the player will be remaining with them.
That’s according to BILD, who say the recent arrival of Eljif Elmas from Napoli will not change their plans for the Liverpool youngster.
The newspaper explains that Carvalho has made it clear he was ‘dissatisfied’ with the playing time he’s had at the club so far after moving there on loan in the summer.
He’s only managed three starts in 11 appearances so far and would like to return to Anfield in January, with Fulham, his former club, interested in taking him for the second half of the season.
RB ‘put a stop to a loan cancellation’ though, with sports boss Rouven Schröder having insisted he was a part of their plans when asked about the subject by BILD.
“We are always in good communication with him and his management,” he said.
“When a player goes to a Champions League club, he knows that the competition is fierce. Nevertheless, he got his minutes. He will be with us again on January 2nd.”
However, there is evidence to suggest that Carvalho’s situation ‘will not necessarily improve’ as the arrival of Elmas and the imminent return of Dani Olmo could mean there are even less chances for him.
Thus, the German club and the Liverpool man ‘will take a closer look in January’ to see how the squad develops, particularly in attacking midfield, and ‘its not completely ruled out’ that Carvalho ‘will get things moving again’.
In other words, he could push for a return to Liverpool once again despite Leipzig having already blocked it happening before now.
