Lucas Digne and Leighton Baines are currently the only two recognised left-backs at Everton.
Baines’ current deal at Goodison Park will expire in the summer and Carlo Ancelotti has publicly expressed his desire to retain the 35-year-old beyond this term.
However, this hasn’t stopped the Merseyside club from looking to bring in a new left-back for next season.
Wednesday’s edition of AS claims the Toffees follow Real Betis’ Alex Moreno. The fullback arrived at Estadio Benito Villamarín from Rayo Vallecano last summer.
The 26-year-old has four assists in 23 league appearances for the La Liga side this season and he’s considered as an offensive fullback. The Spanish newspaper are of the belief he would do well in the Premier League, if he makes a switch to England.
Ancelotti and Everton are looking for a footballer who has similar characteristics to that of Moreno and the player’s profile pleases the manager.
Having paid €7m plus €1m in bonuses for Moreno, Betis are of the belief they can get ‘three times more’ than what they paid for him last summer.
It’s clear that Betis are open to the idea of allowing Moreno leave, if they receive a convincing proposal.
