Over the past few weeks, Nottingham Forest have been chasing Juventus’ Douglas Luiz.

On August 7th, we covered claims from Italy explaining that the Reds want to sign him on loan with a €34m obligation to buy if they qualify for Europe. Juve, on the other hand, want an overall fee of €40m.

Earlier this week, Corriere dello Sport reported Nottingham Forest are playing for time so that they can sign the midfielder on their terms, likely towards the end of the window.

Journalist Alfredo Pedullà now reports the 27-year-old is ‘getting closer’ to Nuno Espírito Santo’s side.

Last summer, he left Aston Villa for Juventus and struggled in his debut season. The Brazil international isn’t included in the Turin club’s plans and would be happy to return to England this summer.

According to the journalist, Nottingham Forest held talks for the midfielder on Friday and negotiations are progressing well.

Pedullà reports this ‘weekend will be used to finalise all the details’ of the operation. He says patience and caution will be needed until then.

Juventus, for their part, are asking for a €35m buying obligation. Pedullà hasn’t specified whether Nottingham Forest are willing to meet the Serie A club’s terms despite stating the deal can be finalised this weekend.
