Last week, CA Talleres president Andrés Fassi publicly criticised Nottingham Forest for not keeping their word to sign Ramón Sosa.
The Premier League side verbally agreed a deal with the Argentine club, but their written offer was apparently lower than what was already agreed upon.
On Wednesday, Fassi issued a public warning for Nottingham Forest to stick to the verbal agreement to secure the 24-year-old’s services. He also said the deal is on standby, while the winger has been waiting to seal a move to the English club.
El Gráfico now claim the Paraguay international is unlikely to join Nuno Espírito Santo’s side this summer, after their ‘failure of negotiations’ with the South American club.
Sosa, for his part, trained alone earlier this week, with the hope of the Reds returning with an improved written offer. That hasn’t happened so far and he will return to full training, which has now been confirmed by his club.
Talleres have issued a statement on their official website stating that an agreement hasn’t been reached for the player’s transfer, without mentioning Nottingham Forest.
“We inform that our player Ramón Sosa is once again at the disposal of the coaching staff as a transfer agreement hasn’t been reached,” a statement read.
“After his outstanding performance and the call-up to his country’s national team, enquiries came from several foreign clubs: Ramón expressed his desire to take care of himself and continue his professional growth in another league and the club decided to accompany that possibility by starting conversations. In this framework, a training plan differentiated from the rest of the group was arranged.
“Considering several options, the conversations advanced with the club that the player expressed that he preferred and even resigning some initial conditions, an agreement was not reached.
“As the talks advanced, a maximum deadline was set to complete the negotiation and not continue to delay the situation which, if not resolved, would seriously harm us all.
“Attentive to Ramón’s status, his importance to the team and respect for the club’s interests, Sosa is once again at the disposal of the coaching staff, even knowing that there is still a month left with the transfer window open to analyse other possibilities for the benefit of all parties.”
Nottingham Forest will clearly have to make a fresh move to save this one.
