A month ago, we relayed news from Germany that Manchester United want to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong in January.
This information is relayed again by Sky Deutschland in their latest report, who then provide a fresh update on this case.
Their title says ‘it’s getting hotter’ between Manchester United and the right-back over a potential transfer.
Within the report, it’s said the Netherlands international ‘now knows’ the Red Devils are interested to secure his services and he is open to making a switch to Old Trafford.
The 21-year-old is currently with the national team at the World Cup, where he is yet to make an appearance for Oranje. This would not have an impact on his potential transfer to Manchester United as Sky state a summer move is ‘becoming more and more likely’.
Sky add ‘talks should accelerate’ after the FIFA tournament in Qatar, without making it clear whether it’s between Erik ten Hag’s side and the Dutchman or Leverkusen.
However, they insist a move to United next summer is in on the cards, especially because the Bundesliga side have already started searching for Frimpong’s successor.
Operating as a right wing-back and right-back this season, Frimpong has managed five goals and three assists from 21 matches in all competitions.
