Tottenham Hotspur signing Lucas Bergvall is in contention to win the Swedish Cup with Djurgårdens IF Fotboll.
Earlier this year, Tottenham agreed a deal with the Swedish club for the 18-year-old to arrive at the north London club in the summer.
The incoming Tottenham player has managed three goals and five assists from five cup games, but hasn’t managed to replicate the same form in the league for Djurgården this year.
Journalist Anders Lindblad, writing in his column for Svenska Dagbladet, claims ‘great talent’ Lucas Bergvall’s form has ‘wavered’ and this could be a concern for Djurgården ahead of their Swedish Cup final against Malmö FF later today.
Malmö are undefeated in all competitions this season and seem to be the favourites to win the cup final.
Lindblad claims Djurgården have to believe that they can overcome Malmö, and follow it up with a top performance in order to win the Swedish Cup. He adds Marcus Danielson, Albin Ekdal and Magnus Eriksson all have to step up, along with Bergvall.
The midfielder’s recent form has been shaky, perhaps because he may have his head at Tottenham already, although there’s also the issue, reportedly repeatedly in Sweden, that he’s seems to be being kicked a lot more since the deal was announced.
Regardless, it’s now time for Bergvall to showcase his qualities and say goodbye to Djurgården by helping them win the cup final.
