Chelsea have made an approach for Real Sociedad goalkeeper Álex Remiro.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who state the 29-year-old’s ‘great season’ has ‘awaken the interest’ of top English clubs, including Chelsea.
Remiro kept 22 clean sheets and conceded 44 goals from 49 matches in the recently concluded season, and his fine displays helped him make debut for Spain back in March.
Mundo say he has a market in the Premier League, where Chelsea are one of the clubs to have made contact to find out about his situation. The west London club have also asked, possibly with La Real, about his release clause.
It’s claimed the Spain international has a €75m clause in his deal that lasts until 2027. As well as Enzo Maresca’s side, Manchester United were in contact earlier this summer.
Mundo don’t specify when Chelsea made contact or whether they plan to make an offer for the player.
Remiro is happy at Real Sociedad and his idea is to continue with them, but the report says the goalkeeper could still receive offers. Therefore, the Spanish club are ‘prepared for any’ contingency’, even though he’s not expected to leave in the summer window.
