It doesn’t take long for things to turn around in football. Rubén Sellés is now finding that out his miserable spells at Sheffield United and Hull City.

El Periódico de Aragón cover him today as he appears to have turned things around at Real Zaragoza following something of a rocky start.

He was a surprise appointment at the Spanish club following his dismissal at Sheffield United, where he failed to get back on track after his disappointing time at Hull. Things were not going well for him, though.

In the middle of November, we covered a report explaining how Sellés had ‘the face of a loser’ and his reign was not going well. Fortunately, things have been better since.

13 days after that initial report we covered how Sellés had ‘achieved the impossible’ and was now earning praise at Zaragoza after all. That now continues today in El Periódico Aragón.

They report that Rubén Sellés has now managed to win people over with his personality. And, more importantly, the “players give their all for him” as well.

Now the ‘victories have begun to arrive’. Sellés has turned Zaragoza into a ‘very much alive team’ after previously being ‘practically dead’. He’s achieved this with a ‘powerful display of character’.

When things were at their worst, following three consecutive defeats, with the side bottom of the table and nine points from safety, he refused to be swayed. He stuck to his guns, committed to his players and believed. It has paid off considerably.  Now the players are fully committed and giving their all in return.

As a result, things are going very well. The players believe, the fans have gone from scepticism to faith, and he’s seen as a ‘capable coach’. After the miseries at Hull and Sheffield United, it appears Rubén Sellés has turned a corner at last.
