Patrick Bamford’s ‘frustrated’ search for a new club post Leeds United has been extended after José Bordalás blocked his arrival at Getafe.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who cover the Getafe boss turning down the former Leeds man today.
The newspaper explains that Getafe had finalised the signing of the striker at the end of the window. They were keen on him as he was available on a free after leaving Leeds.
The deal was done, waiting to be completed. Getafe’s directors had made progress in negotiations to sign the former Leeds man. They considered an ideal addition for Bordalás’ squad.
The Getafe manager thought differently, though. Bordalás ‘expressed his disagreement’ with the move. He asked for Bamford’s arrival to be halted. He preferred that they keep a free transfer slot for the January transfer window rather than sign the former Leeds man.
He believed that there was no urgent need to add players. Instead, he would prefer to explore options ‘with more potential’ when January comes around.
Thus, Getafe decided not to sign Bamford, and he was left as a free agent, looking for alternative options. He had thought the move to Getafe was on but instead was left frustrated at the last minute by Bordalás blocking the move.
