Napoli star Kim Min-jae’s entourage have opened the door to a possible move to Liverpool this summer.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the player’s future is ‘being prepared’ following a superb season with the Italian side.
The centre-back is currently focused on finishing the season with Napoli and securing the title but behind the scenes his entourage are preparing for what could be a summer full of interested parties.
The 26-year-old Korean’s performances have not gone unnoticed around Europe and, alongside Paris Saint Germain, Liverpool are ‘very interested’ in him.
They’ve had defensive issues all season, with Ibrahima Konaté, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all having injury issues and not proving to be reliable partners for Virgil van Dijk.
It has been suggested they want to fix that issue and Kim is a player on their radar ahead of a potential major rebuild in the coming market.
The defender, for his part, is in no hurry to leave Napoli and is delighted with the atmosphere, dynamics on the club and the prospect of winning the title. The club are also in with a chance of going all the way in the Champions League as well.
He has interest, though, something Napoli are aware of and they are trying to raise his current release clause, which is €50m, up to €90m via a new contract.
However, staying at the club is not 100% certain as his entourage believe that the prospect of joining a club like Liverpool is an option ‘not to be neglected’.
That opens up the possibility of the Reds getting their man in the summer, although there is no official contact with Napoli at this point as they do not want to discuss the matter with anyone before the end of the season.
