Everton are interested in Sevilla’s Gonzalo Montiel and have already spoken to him about a move to Goodison Park.
That’s according to journalist Maximo de la Cruz Ramirez, who reports that the player’s agents have confirmed that Everton want the right back.
According to his information, Everton have already spoken to the Argentine full-back and he sees no harm in returning to the Premier League. He spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest.
Everton are yet to contact Sevilla over a move, though, and the Spanish are waiting for that to happen.
In the meantime, ABC Sevilla cover comments from manager Francisco José García Pimienta, who has admitted that the full back is not in his plans.
The newspaper reports that Montiel is considered a loose end to be tied up before the end of the window and Montiel is one of them.
The Spanish side are actively looking for a new destination for him and several others and it seems the Sevilla boss is keen to push him along now that Everton are being linked with a potential move.
“The change of Juanlu has nothing to do with Montiel,” he said.
“We have Juanlu, Jesús, Carmona. If he ends up staying, I’ll consider him one more, important, like the rest.”
The newspaper also adds that, according to journalist Uriel Lug, Everton, Nottingham Forest and Borussia Dortmund are in the mix.
Given that Forest could have had him months ago and Dortmund have just signed Yan Couto from Manchester City for the same position, however, that is something we can add some doubt on to.
Either way, the Toffees may want to move as the opportunity is there, with Sevilla more than happy to sell.
