Nobody at Bayern Leverkusen ‘has any doubts’ that Granit Xhaka will join them from Arsenal in the summer.

That’s according to Kicker, who say that any doubts about the transfer have been ‘wiped out’ and everyone at the German club is confident it will be happening.

The newspaper reports that any last doubts surrounding the potential transfer have been dispelled, with Xhaka keen to leave Arsenal and return to Germany for personal reasons.

A deal which shouldn’t cost more than €15m is in the pipeline, with the club having kept in touch with Xhaka after trying to sign him last summer.

The fact that Borussia Monchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund have both been linked ‘does not worry’ anyone at Bayer Leverkusen, such is their confidence the deal is done.

That’s because they ‘basically agreed’ with the Switzerland star, who will sign a four-year deal at the club on a salary that is lower than what he currently earns at Arsenal.

No contract document has been signed as yet but it can be assumed ‘with a probability bordering on certainty’ that this will happen.

There is also a possibility that the transfer will take place faster than originally expected, with Leverkusen chiefs having worked quietly behind the scenes on the deal.

Their idea was to cook the topic on ‘as small a flame as possible’ to keep it under wraps and not disrupt Arsenal’s push for the title, something they felt would have worsened their negotiating position with the Gunners.

However, as Arsenal’s title chances are now seemingly over, the ‘final decision’ on the transfer could come as early as this weekend. Indeed, the sooner the title race is definitively over, the sooner Xhaka’s transfer will be finalised.

That is being helped by the fact the Gunners are already trying to source a replacement, with Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice on their radar.
