Rumours about the future of Mamadou Sakho have grown over the past week or so, and that’s understandable. Jurgen Klopp sent the fan favourite home from Liverpool’s pre-season tour and, even though he insisted it wasn’t a huge issue, sending a player home is not really the best of signs.

Since then Sakho has been linked with transfers to several clubs including AS Roma, who are on the lookout for a versatile defender, which Sakho is.

On Monday evening, France Football’s Nabil Djellit published an article explaining Sakho absolutely wants to remain at Anfield next season. His agents have insisted that’s the case and ‘categorically denied’ any contact with Roma.

Sakho is aware of increased competiton at Liverpool next season, but is determined to get into Klopp’s team, and also has his sights set on a return to Didier Deschamps’ France set-up.

It’ll be no surprise to see the exit rumours continue but Sakho’s camp seem to want to get the message out that he’d like to stay.
