Mathys Tel is yet to make a final decision on his future, after Tottenham pushed ahead of Chelsea and Aston Villa in transfer negotiations.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that Tottenham remain in concrete negotiations with Bayern Munich about the Frenchman.
Reports from France earlier today stated that Tottenham had reached a €60m agreement with Bayern over Tel today. Plettenberg confirms this but states it is a ‘verbal agreement’ between the two parties.
Tel has been informed of this agreement but has not yet made a final decision on whether he will accept Tottenham’s offer. He is also yet to decide whether he prefers a permanent transfer or a loan deal.
He’s regularly stated that he wants to become a legend at the German giants one day and a permanent exit to Tottenham would naturally be counterproductive to that aim.
Tottenham have reached an agreement with Bayern, though, stepping ahead of Chelsea and Aston Villa who are also in talks with the German giants.
Perhaps Tel is waiting to assess the Aston Villa and Chelsea offers before making a decision on Tottenham, but Spurs are currently ahead in the ongoing race either way.
