VfB Stuttgart goalkeeper Alexander Nubel has revealed he would love to play in Glasgow, against either Celtic or Rangers.

Sport.de have an interview with the Stuttgart goalkeeper today in which he discusses their Europa League draw.

The German side are competing in the Europe League this season and take on Basel this week in their first away game in the competition.

They then have away games against Fenerbahce, Go Ahead Eagles, and Roma in between home games against Feyenoord, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Young Boys. They already beat Celta Vigo 2-1 to open their campaign last week.

It’s a good mix of European adventures for the German side, including what will be a hostile welcome at Fenerbahce and a tricky trip to a revived Roma. Nubel is excited about those two games but admits he would have loved to draw either Celtic or Rangers.

“Well, I would have loved to play in Glasgow,” he said when asked about a ‘dream’ opponent’.

“Yes, with VfB, otherwise, I think we have a really cool opponent in Istanbul with Fenerbahce. I don’t know how many guys have played there. I’ve played for their rivals there before, which is a whole different ball game in terms of volume, so it’ll be cool.

“And Rome, we actually have a very, very good mix of away games and home games, so I can’t complain at all. Otherwise, the only other place would be Glasgow, where I’d say.”

The question is whether it’s Ibrox or Celtic Park that Nubel fancies. Given the relative form of Celtic and Rangers this season so far, we’d suggest it’s Ibrox. He though, appears to just have his eye on a trip to Glasgow either way.
