Two days ago, Olé in Argentine reported Chelsea have agreed a deal with Boca Juniors to sign Aaron Anselmino, and that he is set to travel to England soon to carry out medical tests with the Premier League side.
There has been a change of plans with the 19-year-old’s medical, according to Argentine journalist Marcos Bonocore.
He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to claim the defender will travel to the United States to undergo tests and then sign for Chelsea.
The Blues are already in the US for their pre-season tour and this would be a reason for the centre-back’s trip there instead of undergoing examinations in England.
Chelsea have agreed to pay $18m [£13.97m] plus $4m [£3.1m] in bonuses for Anselmino. They will allow him to return to Boca Junior until next summer, with an option to cut short his stay at the end of December.
Bonocore’s claim is relayed by Planeta Boca Juniors, who then provide their own update on this case.
They say the youngster will be ‘presented shortly’ as a new Chelsea player once he clears the medical tests. He’s expected to sign a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
Anselmino will return to the Argentine club after completing the move to Chelsea and Planeta Boca Juniors say he’ll be a starter, when available for selection.
