Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Rosario Central’s Alejo Véliz, according to multiple claims.

Journalist Gustavo Yarroch took to Twitter to state ‘there are many chances’ for the striker to end up at Spurs for $15m [£11.8m].

Another journalist Renzo Pantich claims the 19-year-old ‘will be sold’ to Tottenham for the aforementioned figure.

La Voz claim Véliz could have played his last game for the club against Chaco For Ever on Wednesday as he’s ‘closer to leaving’ them for the Premier League side.

That’s because the Argentina U20 international, who has a $15m release clause, is ‘one step away’ from Tottenham.

“The leaders have not made it official yet, but in recent days there was an offer from the English football club that even exceeded the numbers that Italian clubs such as Milan and Roma had approached, as well as Salernitana, which is practically impossible to reject,” a Rosario Central spokesperson said, relayed by La Voz.

It’s not been specified who made this offer but it’s likely to have come from Spurs.

La Voz add the Argentine club want to sell the player and also receive a percentage of a fee from his future sale.

Furthermore, La Nación state Rosario Central and Tottenham are in ‘advanced negotiation’ over a deal for Véliz.

Rosario Central president Gonzalo Belloso and their board of directors will meet on Friday to ‘analyse’ Spurs’ offer, which La Nación claim is more than $15m.

The South American club’s intention is to ‘reach an economic agreement’ with Tottenham but retain the attacker until the end of this year.

Véliz has 11 goals and an assist from 23 games this year.
