As West Ham United’s bid for Lucas Paquetá now gets backed up by the Brazilian media, we get to see a few more details on the pursuit for the midfielder.
It’s Goal Brasil who now reports that the Hammers made formal a €40m offer for the player, and even though Lyon ask for more, the negotiations are said to be underway.
According to the story, that amount is still ‘far’ from enough to take the midfielder to West Ham, as the French club had been ‘warning the market’ they’d only let Paquetá move for around €80m.
Still, Goal brings some positive news for the Hammers.
They say the player is keen on the transfer and will ‘reinforce desire to leave the club’.
With his request, Lyon are set to be more open for the negotiation, and as they currently prepare a counter offer, they’re ‘working’ for the operation to take place for between €55m and €60m.
Meanwhile, journalist Venê Casagrande also reports a €38m bid from West Ham for Paquetá, claiming the offer was sent in ‘the last few hours’, and the French club warned they’ll make a counter offer.
His report claims there are ‘good chances’ the transfer will happen, and since the Hammers have also been linked to Flamengo midfielder Lázaro, it’s said their interest in that player has now been put ‘on hold’ for the time being.
