Earlier today, we covered a set of quotes from an agent claiming that Elia Caprile, who left Leeds United in the summer, could make a switch between Bari and Napoli.
Mario Giuffredi stated the goalkeeper and his teammate, Walid Cheddira, were two players who would transfer from the Serie B side to their Serie A counterparts, with the move facilitated by the fact that they are both owned by the De Laurentiis family.
This could have affected Leeds since they are due to receive 50% of any future transfer for the goalkeeper, and the close ties between the two sides could have led to a sub-market value transfer.
Well, that isn’t happening this season, according to Caprile’s agent, Graziano Battistini, who heard the quotes from Giuffredi, and quickly went on Radio Kiss Kiss to set the record straight.
He said: “Caprile to Naples in January? I don’t know how certain things can be said without even knowing the situation. He is fine at Bari and is focused on this season, he is intent on avoiding relegation and not thinking about the future.
“The fact that Napoli and Bari belong to the same family does not mean they reason the same way. Caprile stays in Bari until the end of the season. Then, if someone wants him at the end of the year, we’ll talk about it again.”
This will be music to Leeds’ ears, who will want as much money from the player’s future transfer, which is why they let him go with that clause in the summer.
The 21-year-old arrived at Elland Road in a transfer from Chievo, but never made an appearance for the Premier League side, spending last season on loan at Pro Patria, where he impressed enough to earn attention from Bari, who eventually bought him.
