Liverpool are edging closer to completing the signing of Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
That’s according to La Grada from Spain, who indicate that Liverpool and Valencia have a deal in place for the 23-year-old’s transfer.
La Grada is a Los Ches focused radio show on Radio Valencia.
They state the stopper will undergo medical tests with Liverpool ‘this afternoon’ in Valencia. He’ll then sign the contract and his transfer to Anfield will be made official.
The Georgia international will return to the La Liga side on a loan deal this season. La Grada claim he will play when Valencia face Athletic in the league on Wednesday.
Valencia owner Peter Lim has been insisting on collecting €40m, while Arne Slot’s side have refused to meet their demand. The deadlock was broken by letting the goalkeeper stay at the Spanish club for a season, and the deal is set to be worth a little under that €40m figure.
On Sunday, Superdeporte reported Liverpool have to ‘tie up loose ends’ to complete the deal for the Georgian. This was related to the payment method, and the wages the player will earn during his loan stay at Valencia.
Liverpool and Valencia seem to have ironed out these details, if La Grada’s report is to be believed. It needs to be seen whether this claim will be backed up by other outlets in Spain and England.
