On Monday, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio stated Chelsea have identified Atlético Madrid’s Samu Omorodion as their main target, and are pushing hard to sign him this summer.

The Premier League side’s interest in the 20-year-old continues to get coverage in today’s Spanish newspapers.

AS report the Spain U23 international is definitely aiming towards Chelsea and a source close to the transfer has told them that the deal is ‘very much on track’.

The move can be closed for €40m and Enzo Maresca’s side will offer him a contract until 2031.

The two clubs have also been in talks for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher, and the report says they are treating these deals as two independent operations.

Atlético signed Omorodion in August 2023, and loaned him out to Deportivo Alavés. Their intention was to give him opportunities next season, but the plan has changed because of the impending arrival of Manchester City’s Julián Álvarez.

Marca claim this has convinced the La Liga side to cash in on Omorodion. Therefore, they are stepping up negotiations with Chelsea for the frontman.

Over at Mundo Deportivo, they also state deals between Chelsea and Los Rojiblancos for Gallagher and Omorodion are treated as two separate operations.

It’s claimed the Spaniard ‘will go to’ the Premier League side, while the midfielder’s arrival in Madrid seems to be imminent. Mundo say ‘these two negotiations are closed’, but won’t be finalised until Atlético seal the deal for Álvarez.
