It’s no secret Tottenham have been in negotiations with AZ Alkmaar for Dutch international Vincent Janssen.
However, the North London side have so far been rejected, and that forced the player to publicly criticise his club for blocking his ‘dream move’.
It now appears that all parties could reach an agreement soon, after AZ finally agreed to talk to Tottenham, reports Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
The Eredivisie club until now refused to put a price tag on Janssen, but have asked Tottenham to pay around €22m for him. That’s slightly more than widely reported.
AZ have also asked for a ‘resale rate’ in Janssen’s contract, and that probably means they want some part of the transfer fee should Tottenham decide to sell him in the future.
The 22-year-old is now hoping Daniel Levy accepts AZ’s demands. West Ham United are also lurking around, and that could also put some pressure on Tottenham to get a deal done quickly.
It is reported Janssen is no longer training with AZ, and is set to travel to London today for medical examinations.
De Telegraaf are quite confident Tottenham will accept AZ’s demands and are not going to drop out, as the player is very keen on signing for them.
Should everything go according to the plan, Janssen could be officially presented as a Tottenham player on Monday.
According to another Dutch website Voetbal Zone, Tottenham have had a bid of €20m plus bonuses accepted by AZ Alkmaar.
There are conflicting reports in the Dutch media, but it does appear that Tottenham are closing in on a deal for Janssen.
