Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is ‘on his way’ to Liverpool, according to claims on Wednesday evening.
Dutch outlet AD writes that despite the strong rumours of a transfer to Atletico Madrid and especially Manchester United, the 26-year-old is close to joining the Reds.
The story says Liverpool are ‘on track’ to get the deal done in the ‘coming days’. For now, there’s no exact information on where the negotiations stand, though.
AD just claim how ‘surprising’ it is that Amrabat is moving to Anfield, because the Reds hadn’t been the most interested in his signing this summer.
The midfielder had many other admirers, such as West Ham, who agreed a €35m fee with Fiorentina and ended up being turned down by the player himself.
Liverpool lost Jordan Henderson and Fabinho this summer, and have been in a rush to find replacements in the transfer market.
Manchester United may have been named as the strongest contenders for Amrabat, but with them taking so long to make their move, it now looks like Jurgen Klopp’s side saw an opportunity and may end up winning the race.
