Birmingham City are close to completing a deal for Go Ahead Eagles midfielder Willum Thór Willumsson.
That’s according to De Telegraaf, who report that the 25-year-old is set to be the latest departure from the Dutch club this summer.
The newspaper report that after coach René Hake, captain Bas Kuipers and midfielder Philippe Rommens have all departed, Go-Ahead Eagles will lost another pillar from their team.
According to them Willumsson is expected to cost Birmingham €1.5m as they plan to strengthen the squad this summer for an attempt at an immediate return to the Championship.
They have ‘big ambitions’ after the disappointment of last season and Willumsson will be part of their plans moving forwards.
A deal appears to be in place and De Telegraaf are confident he will be heading to St Andrew’s sooner rather than later, although there is no mention of contract terms at this moment in time.
That’s something to keep an eye out for, with a medical at Birmingham surely set to be scheduled soon now that the two clubs are in agreement.
