Arsenal’s chase for Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard now gets an update from the player’s home country, as the Norwegian media says talks are ongoing for a new move.

In a story which is still being updated, outlet TV2 reports that the clubs are currently negotiating for his return to the Emirates Stadium.

This time it’s said the Gunners want to buy the 22-year-old, and despite a headline saying the player is ‘on his way back to Arsenal’, the article claims the transfer is still being discussed by the parts.

They state that Odegaard will not be in Real Madrid’s squad for the La Liga clash against Alaves on Saturday night. That’s because the club don’t want to ‘risk’ a player who could be sold this summer.

During his loan at Arsenal in the second part of the last season, Odegaard proved to be a useful player for Mikel Arteta, getting 20 appearances and starting most matches when physically available.

Claims from the Spanish media this morning had said that the Gunners are still to match the €50m demanded by Real Madrid Real Madird, but also claimed the ‘transfer could be closed’ for €40m.
