A transfer involving three players is never going to be simple, with Juventus and Aston Villa going through that process right now.
Douglas Luiz is expected to be on his way to Turin, with Weston McKennie, Samuel Iling-Junior and €20m going in the other direction.
One of the complications, at least according to the Italian media, has been working out the value of each player involved in the transaction and how that reflects on each club’s accounts.
Another issue is the wages of each individual, and McKennie appears to have a specific issue.
According to Friday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport, the US international is ‘discussing severance pay with the Bianconeri’. What that specifically relates to isn’t made clear, but it’s likely bonuses or locally payments.
McKennie being paid more at Juventus than Aston Villa will give him and wanting compensating for that is a possibility, although less likely.
This could all take a while to sort out so the trio of players may not have their fate confirmed until well into next week or beyond.
