Alexandre Lacazette is linked with a move away from Arsenal every transfer window, and Gazzetta dello Sport report AS Roma have now taken an interest.
However, their chances of getting the Frenchman are low, for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, it’s explained Lacazette would want a Champions League club if he’s to leave Arsenal, clearly feeling he’s of the level to play in Europe’s premier competition. Roma aren’t in that bracket right now, which would be a barrier.
Secondly, Gazzetta say the relationship between Arsenal and AS Roma is at an ‘all time low’. That’s due to the saga which went on over Granit Xhaka this summer. Jose Mourinho identified the Gunners player as his priority target for midfield, and the Serie A club then agreed terms with Xhaka.
There were even claims that a move could be confirmed before Euro 2020, but it became clear over a number of weeks that Roma couldn’t, or wouldn’t, match Arsenal’s demands.
Given all of that, Lacazette moving to Roma isn’t considered likely.
