If there’s one thing the Italian sport media seem to love more than any of their counterparts around the world it’s a swap deal.

The idea of exchanging players always creates a fuss, and, to be fair, it’s something which seems to happen more in Italy than other countries. Usually the swaps involve several players, with youngsters often moving as part of bigger deals.

This time the one which has got them excited is Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala.

Gazzetta dello Sport have a big Sunday article on the potential Manchester United/Juventus swap, and they state: ‘Summer tongue twister: Juventus can trade Dybala for Lukaku, who Inter likes, who wants to sell Icardi to Juventus, who can let Dybala leave, which Zhang (Inter’s owner) would buy.’

They’ve made it more complicated than a swap, and brought Mauro Icardi into the situation. In short, Lukaku swapping Manchester United for Juventus could be very bad news for Inter.

It would mean they don’t get the Belgian themselves, and that they can’t sell Icardi to Juve, and that Dybala is off the market.

One problem ahead of ruining Inter’s dreams is Dybala, who it’s said would want a huge pay rise to leave the Turin club. Gazzetta believe he’d be looking for €9-10m a year, and wages in Italy are usually quoted after tax.

On why Juve would want the Manchester United striker, they explain: ‘Lukaku would be a physical 9, a striker tested at the highest European level who would open spaces for Ronaldo.’
