A high percentage of Chelsea transfer links in recent years have been with players in Italy, as Antonio Conte first and then Maurizio Sarri looked to add players from Serie A to their team.
There’s been mixed success but fans of the Premier League club seem a little tired with all the Italian football links, and given there’s also ben failures, many think it’s time to start looking elsewhere for recruits.
On that note, this weekend, Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo presented the London club as one of those who are keen to sign Matthijs De Ligt.
It’s tough competition for Chelsea, perhaps too tough to have a chance of success, and Mundo Deportivo say De Ligt’s performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League last week further underlines what a special defensive talent he is.
