On Wednesday, we relayed news from Argentina that Newell’s Old Boys’ Brian Aguirre is on Leicester City’s transfer agenda.
Leicester aren’t the only English club and are now joined by Brighton & Hove Albion in the race to sign the winger. That’s according to TNT Sports, who state the Seagulls are following him.
TyC Sports also have a report on the interest shown by Championship side and Brighton in the 20-year-old.
It’s claimed the Argentina U20 international is ‘wanted’ by both the Foxes and Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
He has a contract until December 2025 and the report states the ‘English offer for Aguire would be close’ to the $10m [€9.2m] fee requested by the South American club. They add Newell’s Old Boys have not officially confirmed this.
TyC Sports don’t make it clear or indicate as to who among Leicester and Brighton would have tabled this proposal.
Prior to Enzo Maresca’s side and Brighton came forward, the website states Newell’s Old Boys had rejected Inter Miami’s approach for Aguirre.
Operating as both left and right winger, Aguirre has managed three goals and four assists from 28 games this year.
