At the weekend, La Nueva España reported Real Oviedo are in negotiations with Aston Villa’s Leander Dendoncker.

On Monday, we covered claims from Spain that Real Oviedo manager Veljko Paunović approached the 30-year-old with an offer. It was reported he has accepted their offer, and the Spanish club are waiting for him to leave Aston Villa.

La Voz de Asturias, a newspaper local to the La Liga newcomers, provides the latest on the Aston Villa player’s move to Real Oviedo, who have gone ‘all in’ to secure his services.

Paunović is said to have personally called the midfielder and assured him of an important role in the team.

The Belgium international spent the last 18 months on loan at Napoli and Anderlecht as he was left out of Unai Emery’s plans. He’s returned to Villa Park, where his contract is until 2026.

La Voz de Asturias claim the former Wolves man is ‘rescinding his contract’ with the Premier League club. They add Dendoncker has arrived in Oviedo and the Spanish club will announce his signing on Tuesday.

This indicates the Belgian has reached an agreement with Aston Villa to terminate his contract.

La Nueva España also report Dendoncker has arrived in Oviedo ‘after rescinding his contract’ with Aston Villa. They add Rea Oviedo should make his signing official in the next few hours.
