A week ago, Foot Mercato stated Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida has been in advanced talks with Aston Villa. It was also said the Premier League side are pushing hard to sign him this summer.
Three days later, ESPN NL reported Aston Villa are best placed to sign the right-back and are hoping for his arrival at Villa Park.
Algemeen Dagblad, relayed by Soccernews, backs up Aston Villa’s interest and provides the latest on the 24-year-old.
The Netherlands international has less than a year left on his deal. Feyenoord manager Brian Priske wants to retain him, and that’s made difficult because of the Villans and RB Leipzig.
It’s claimed Unai Emery’s side are ‘very keen’ on securing the defender’s services.
Leipzig are also in the picture, but the report says they’ll have to sell one of their players first before making an approach for him. This gives Aston Villa an advantage over the Bundesliga side.
Feyenoord general manager Dennis te Kloese will make a new attempt to renew the player’s contract.
AD say Geertruida ‘wants to wait’ and see if Aston Villa, Leipzig or any another club are ‘willing to take action’ to sign him.
