Atalanta showed interest in Birmingham City’s Jordan James in the winter market, but a deal didn’t take shape because of their refusal to meet the English club’s demands.
On June 12th, Tutto Atalanta stated the Serie A side want to take advantage of the Blues’ relegation to League One.
The Europa League winners are set to miss out on the Birmingham City player to Stade Rennais if a report from Ouest-France is to be believed.
The latest claims from elsewhere talked about the Ligue 1 side’s interest in the 20-year-old. Ouest-France were able to verify this and have found out that James is ‘very close’ to joining Stade Rennais for just over €5m.
It’s further claimed the deal to take the midfielder to the French club is ‘on track’ and he is expected to ‘sign soon’ for them.
Stade Rennais and their new sporting director, Frederic Massara, paid close attention to the Championship, where Birmingham City played last season. They were pleased with the Wales international’s qualities and ability to operate across several midfield positions.
James scored eight goals from 42 Championship games for Birmingham City last season.
