Player ‘very close’ to Brentford, already ‘said yes’ to Bees – Sale to ‘bring treasure’ to club

Bologna’s Aaron Hickey will move to the Premier League, ‘precisely to Brentford’, in the summer.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who explain the 20-year-old’s sale to the Bees will ‘bring treasure’ to the Serie A side as it is needed to carry out incoming operations.

It’s claimed the transfer will cost Brentford around €22m, which includes €16.5m fixed fee and €5m as potential bonus payments.

Bologna paid €1.5m to Hearts to secure the Scotland international’s services in 2020.

Hickey’s former club will get 10 percent of the fee from his sale to Thomas Frank’s side, while allowing Bologna to make an ‘important capital gain’.

The deal to take the left-back to Brentford is a result of a trip made by Riccardo Bigon, the club’s former sporting director, to England.

This trip was ‘not ‘entirely blessed’ by the president, Joey Saputo, precisely because the chief was planning to make Bigon’s exit official. During his time in London, Bigon had met Brentford and a few other clubs. 

Frank’s side have been following the Scot for months and they are now reportedly close to securing his services for around €22m.

La Repubblica state Hickey is ‘very close’ to Brentford after negotiations between the two clubs accelerated in the last few hours. The player has ‘already said yes’ to the Bees.
