Either Betis are an optimistic and creative lot when it comes to transfers, or Spain’s Gol Digital have a healthy imagination.
It’s claimed Betis will use Joel Campbell to try and persuade Jack Wilshere to move to them when his Arsenal contract expires in the summer.
Lining up several potential signings ahead of the summer, Wilshere is said to be ‘one of the most complicated’. That’s because other clubs will be interested, given his Arsenal situation, and therefore Betis will have to be persuasive… or Campbell will.
Despite the Costa Rican not having a great time himself at Betis this season, and likely leaving in the summer, he’s expected to persuade his old pal Wilshere that it’s the right move for him.
The club’s manager Quique Setién sees Wilshere as a ‘key’ player for his ongoing project at the club, and is therefore pushing a full effort.
And that’s where Campbell comes in, who will be sent off to Arsenal to talk the midfielder into it.
It’s certainly a long shot.
