Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez has been urged to think deeply about a potential move to Nottingham Forest, and not instantly dismiss it.
Karim el Ahmadi covers the situation today, relayed by 1908, and urges the Feyenoord striker to think carefully about the idea rather than instantly dismissing it.
Nottingham Forest have been pushing to sign the Mexican over the last week or so, with a first bid rejected and a second one reportedly now on the table.
Feyenoord have been resistant to the idea and so has the player, with reports making it clear that he’s made it known publicly he’s not that keen on the switch.
He has reportedly set his sights higher and may not be interested in giving up Champions League football with Feyenoord for a potential relegation battle in the Premier League at Nottingham Forest.
That’s not put off Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, who are continuing to bid for the player and hoping that their insistence can convince both parties to come to the table.
And El Ahmadi has urged the player to think about the offer, as it comes with more benefits than he may be considering.
“Nottingham does have an excellent trainer in Nuno Espirito Santo and Giménez can compete with the best defenders there,” he said.
“You give up the Champions League when you leave. But in England you play so many matches at Champions League level. Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea. You have to work every week.
“I was once able to go to Nottingham, but they did not play in the Premier League at the time. So, I said no. But when Aston Villa came, I was gone.
“The Premier League, that’s where I wanted to go. That competition already had enormous appeal at the time and that has only increased. As a player you wonder ‘how often does the opportunity come along?’. Anyone who gambles must be sure of himself.”
