Andre Gomes is undergoing a ‘revival’ at Lille, with his loan move from Everton working out well so far.
That’s according to Le Figaro, who cover the Portuguese midfielder today and how he is reviving his career in France this season.
They explain that the midfielder, who joined on loan from Everton in the summer when it was made clear he was not a part of Frank Lampard’s plans, ‘has quickly found his feet’ at his new club.
He is now a ‘key figure’ in the team, enjoying playing time and rhythm that wasn’t on offer at Goodison Park.
He’s managed five starts and three substitute appearances so far and while he is yet to score or register an assist his ability to ‘collect the ball and pass it cleanly’ to the attacking players make him the ‘barometer’ of Lille’s play.
He has already spoken publicly about how well his adaptation is going well and he is now ‘living up’ to a CV that has seen him play for Benfica, Valencia and Barcelona as well as Everton.
Things are certainly going better for him in Ligue 1 than it was in the Premier League, where he had fallen down the pecking order at Everton and struggled to impress Lampard.
The current loan deal does not include a purchase option but things are going well and if they continue, it’s likely the French side may explore a permanent deal come the summer.
