Two days ago, Tipsbladet reported Kasper Schmeichel has decided to prioritise Celtic over extending his stay at Anderlecht or making a switch to Saudi Arabia this summer. It was also stated he was expected to have medical with Brendan Rodgers’ side at the weekend.
The goalkeeper hasn’t managed to undergo his Celtic medical so far, but the transfer is not in danger.
A fresh report from Tipsbladet claims the 37-year-old was set to have his medical in Italy at the weekend, but the clinic there decided to postpone it to Tuesday.
It’s claimed the stopper will carry out his Celtic medical in Italy tomorrow, after which he will join Brendan Rodgers’ squad for the pre-season tour to the US on Thursday.
The Denmark international is currently without a club since his deal at Anderlecht expired on June 30th. He will now join the Scottish champions on a free transfer and has already agreed a one-year deal with them.
Joe Hart, who was the first-choice goalkeeper at Celtic last season, retired in May, and Schmeichel will soon become his successor, once he finishes his medical tests ‘within the next 24 hours’.
