Barcelona are still trying to work out the future of Jean Clair Todibo, as they look to sell the defender after his loan to Schalke. The Bundesliga club didn’t take up their buying option, and for some months it’s felt like Barca have been trying to drum up interest elsewhere.
Naturally, Everton have been repeatedly linked given the business they’ve done with the Catalan side in recent years. It’s felt like an effort from Barcelona to see if there’s genuine interest from Goodison Park in the 20 year old.
Monday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo reports Todibo has ‘two formal offers’, and names Everton and AC Milan as the most interested clubs. They don’t specifically say each club has made a formal offer, but that’s certainly the suggestion.
Leicester City have now also been pulled into the picture, although Mundo Deportivo don’t seem so concrete about interest from the Foxes.
Barcelona believe they can get €25m, which would represent a huge profit on the €1m they paid Toulouse in January 2019.
Such a figure seems on the high side and would encourage the feeling there’s a ‘Barca tax’, which sees the club expect big transfer fees just because a player has been signed by them, regardless of what he then goes on to do.
