In the summer transfer window, Kevin De Bruyne joined Napoli after his exit from Manchester City.

The Belgian made a good start to life in Naples, but reacted angrily to being substituted against AC Milan. This led to Antonio Conte sending a public warning. The Italian emphasised the need for players to put the team above themselves.

On top of that, there’s were doubts over what De Bruyne would bring to the team and how much he was taking away from Scott McTominay.

De Bruyne responded in typical fashion, impressing in Napoli’s Champions League game against Sporting.

Corriere dello Sport note that the ex-Manchester City player found ‘liberation’ in his performance on Wednesday.  He assisted Rasmus Højlund twice, helping Napoli to a 2-1 win.

The newspaper believe that even though De Bruyne doesn’t run much, he makes a massive impact at his best. His presence poses tactical issues for Scott McTominay, but it doesn’t restrict Napoli too much.

He is hailed as ‘King Kev’ as he was at Manchester City. This is seen as a fitting response to all the talk around his relationship with Conte. There is belief that the situation has now been resolved quite quickly.

Napoli is a hugely emotional football club so expect more twists and turns.
