Fulham are today mentioned in a story from Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport about Lazio defender Alessio Romagnoli.
The outlet writes about the centre-back’s love for the Serie A side, as they had always been the destination wanted by him.
It’s claimed that Romagnoli chose Lazio as the ‘club of his life’, and showed that by turning down a ‘richer offer’ from Fulham when he signed for them.
That took place in the summer of 2022, when the Biancocelesti signed him from AC Milan on a free operation.
It’s said that Romagnoli had always been a Lazio fan and ‘couldn’t wait’ to finally wear their shirt. Now he’s said to be fully committed to them, having a contract running until 2027.
Back in 2022, Fulham were indeed heavily linked to Romagnoli, as it was said the Whites had a contract offer on the table and were ‘ready to close’ a deal with him.
It was even claimed that the Whites had offered him a salary worth €4m.
That clearly wasn’t enough, though, and he ended up at the club he always wanted to play for, even if they offered less money.
