Sometimes, money isn’t everything, and Joaquin Correa is making that clear to everyone at Lazio.
That’s according to Il Tempo, who explain from the off in their article on the Argentine that the forward ‘wants Inter, and only Inter’, ignoring the interest of Everton in the process.
So much so, in fact, that he is willing to forego a potential €1.5m/year to secure the move, as the Goodison Park side were ready to offer him €5m/year, whereas Inter have capped their proposal at €3.5m + bonuses.
Not only that, but in doing so, he has cost his club a lot of money.
That’s because Everton ‘managed to satisfy’ the club owner Claudio Lotito with an offer of ‘over €35m’ for the Argentine.
That amount is now what ‘he is now asking’ from Beppe Marotta, Inter’s chief, but the newspaper point out the relationship between Lazio and their Milan based counterparts isn’t the best.
If the San Siro side never manage to satisfy Inter, then it will be very interesting to see what happens, as Correa won’t want to be stuck at Lazio forever.
In the meantime, the player’s agent ‘is working to find a convenient way out for all parties’.
Will Everton come back? We’ll have to wait and see, but it appears that they tried to move on by targeting Matheus Cunha as an alternative.
