Despite Inter Milan’s 1-0 loss to Real Madrid last night, Nerazzurri defender Milan Skriniar is still getting big compliments from the Italian media.

Website Calciomercato today brings a piece highlighting the 26-year-old’s performance, claiming he’s ‘one of the best in the world’.

And to talk about how great it is that Skriniar stayed at Inter Milan this summer, they once again recall that the player turned down the chance to join Tottenham Hotspur.

The outlet points out that the Slovenia international ‘did not take into consideration the attractive proposal’ that Spurs had for him.

That’s why Skriniar reportedly asked his agent to start negotiations in order to get himself a new deal with Inter Milan.

Calciomercato says the talks are on, and in the coming weeks, he should sign a contract which will run until 2025.

So even though Tottenham may feel like they lost the opportunity of signing a great defender this summer, there’s really not a lot to do when it’s the player who’s not interested in the transfer.

Instead, Spurs got Fabio Paratici to get them Cristian Romero, and, so far, it’s paid off quite nicely.
