Bryan Gil is ‘trying to rise like a phoenix’ after finally leaving Tottenham on a permanent basis this summer.

That’s according to AS, who cover the player today and his efforts to get back to his best at Girona.

He joined them on a permanent basis from Tottenham this summer. He spent last season with the Spanish club before a knee injury ended his campaign early.

The 24-year-old spent the summer seeing doors close because of that injury as he looked to leave Tottenham. But Girona trusted him, thanks to manager Míchel, and a €10m deal was eventually done.

Now Gil is ‘trying to rise like a phoenix’ to reward that faith. He wants to show that stability is what he needs to recover his form after a miserable few years at Tottenham.

The belief is that Gil is ‘making waves’ at the Spanish club and could be exactly what they need to get away from a relegation battle. He is certain that Míchel can get the best out of him. The focus is on getting fully fit during this international break.

Then he can attack the rest of the season and prove signing him from Tottenham was not a mistake.
